Special Purpose Assisting Dogs

Empowering Lives Through Canine Companionship

At Fundacja Edual, we are dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals with movement disabilities and those at risk of cardiac or epilepsy attacks through the training of special purpose assisting dogs. Our expertly trained dogs provide invaluable support, enhancing independence, safety, and emotional well-being.

Assisting Dogs for Movement Disabilities

Our assisting dogs are specifically trained to help individuals with mobility challenges. These dogs are capable of performing a wide range of tasks to assist their handlers in daily activities, such as:

- Retrieving Items: Picking up dropped objects, fetching items, and carrying personal belongings.

- Providing Stability: Offering physical support for balance and stability while walking or standing.

- Opening Doors: Operating door handles and switches to help their handlers navigate various environments.

- Assisting with Dressing: Helping with clothing removal or adjustment.

- Alerting for Help: Notifying caregivers or emergency services in case of a fall or other emergency situations.

Alarming Assisting Dogs

In addition to our mobility assistance dogs, Fundacja Edual trains alarming assisting dogs that can predict and respond to cardiac and epilepsy attacks. These specialized dogs are trained to:

- Predict Seizures: Detect subtle changes in their handler's body scent or behavior that precede an epilepsy attack, providing early warnings.

- Respond to Cardiac Events: Sense signs of an impending cardiac event and alert the handler or others around them.

- Initiate Emergency Protocols: Activate emergency response systems, such as pressing a medical alert button or fetching help.

- Provide Comfort and Safety: Stay close to their handler during and after an episode, offering comfort and ensuring safety.

Our Training Program

Our rigorous training program ensures that each assisting dog is well-prepared to meet the specific needs of their future handlers. The process includes:

- Selection: Carefully selecting dogs with the right temperament and aptitude for assistance work.

- Basic Training: Teaching foundational obedience and socialization skills.

- Specialized Training: Conducting intensive training tailored to specific tasks required for mobility assistance or medical alerting.

- Handler Matching: Pairing each dog with a suitable handler and conducting joint training sessions to build a strong partnership.

- Ongoing Support: Providing continuous support and training updates to handlers and their dogs to maintain peak performance.
